Olympic Development Program

Congratulations to players who tried out for their Kansas ODP (Olympic Development Program) teams.

Training squads are comprised of players born during the same year. (ie. Players born in 1991 try out for the "91 Team", players born in 1992 are on the "92" squad.)

ODP is a national program that provides an incredible opportunity to meet, train, and play with top soccer players from your state/region. It's a great way to measure your skills level against the very best and focus on aspects of your game you need to work on if you have ambitions to play at higher levels in the future.

These teams are coached by some of the top college and professional coaches in the state.

It is a huge honor to represent your state on an ODP team. It means that coaches rank you amongst the very best players in the state.

Players meet every month for team training in Emporia and Kansas City, and play a few selected regional tournaments and "friendlies" before attending a week long Regional Camp in Illinois during the summer.

2008-9 ODP News

92 Age Group

Michael Whitehead and Derek Wilson tried out for this years Kansas ODP team.

Michael was selected to play in the Shannon College Showcase Tournament in Tulsa. This is Michael's first time representing our State. Great effort.

Michael and Derek played for Kansas against teams two Nebraska ODP teams at University of Nebraska in January. Derek played two halves in goal in his first game back after knee surgery.

Congratulations to Michael and Derek on their selection to this years Kansas ODP squad.

This is Michael's first year on the State team. A great accomplishment on his first tryout.

Although rehabbing from a second knee surgery Derek was named at the team's sole Alternate and will travel to Illinois if anyone is injured.

Derek previously made the team in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

2007-8 ODP News

92 Age Group

Congratulations to Tyler Zaborny and Derek Wilson on their selection to this years Kansas ODP team.

This is Tyler's first year on the State team. A great accomplishment on his first tryout.

Derek previously made the team in 2006 and was an Alternate in 2007.

The guys will now go to Region II Camp in Rockford, Illinois to compete in a regional tournament July 18-20 against teams from thirteen other state associations.

Following the tournament a Regional Pool is selected for tryouts to join the US National Team.

Nick McDonald, who played on our summer team last year also made the team.

Four players from our Club team, Naseem Foudipar, Jason Wood, Tyler Zaborny and Derek Wilson were selected to play in the Shannon College Showcase Tournament in Tulsa Thanksgiving weekend.

They will be joined by Nick McDonald, Jonathan Davis and Eddie Rodriguez, who all played on our summer teams.

Derek Wilson and Naseem Foudipar played for Kansas against ODP teams from Iowa and Nebraska at University of Nebraska January 5th

2007 ODP News

91 Age Group

Taylor Cook attended the ODP Tryouts in Emporia and Chiefs Indoor Facility.

92 Age Group

Jason Wood and Derek Wilson represented Predators at the 92 age group tryouts.

Derek made the final State squad as an Alternate.

2006 ODP News

Great Work John and Taylor - Defender John Green and Striker Taylor Cook made it through tryouts in Emporia and the Chiefs Indoor Facility at Arrowhead with the "91" players. Both players were impressive at tryouts and should be very proud of their efforts.

Derek Makes The Kansas 92 Team - Our goalie Derek Wilson was selected on the "Kansas 92 A Team" for the Challenge Cup & Showcase Tournament in Tulsa back in November. The team played up in the "91s" age group and finished with a 2-1 record, just missing the championship game on goal differential.

In January the team played two friendlies against Nebraska ODP at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.

Derek was selected for the Kansas 92 Team to attend Regional ODP Camp in Rockford Illinois July 13-17. It was a great experience as the Kansas boys trained under top ODP and College coaches and competed in a tournament against teams from the twelve states in Region II.
