Game 4 - Celtic 0 - BV United 3

Bob's Take: This is a game that got away. A story of two halves. First half playing up-hill against a strong breeze our defense was solid, we played as a team and supported each other. A great effort and one to be proud of. At half time the game was ours to win. After BV United scored some guys simply shut down and stopped playing with any intensity making it much easier for our opponents. United scored twice because too many defenders stood and watched instead of playing desperately to clear the ball. We cannot expect our goalie and one defender to stop five players attacking the goal, and we cannot give reckless penalties within scoring range.

Lessons learned today.... First, we all have to play with more intensity for the entire game. Second.....We need to take it personally when a player beats us or a team scores on us, and lift our game to make sure they don't do it again. We have the talent to bounce back like top teams do. (Man U was down 0-2 at half-time today and ended up winning 5-2) Third.... We must continue to play and support our teammates after we play the ball. We cannot shut down and watch when we could be creating opportunities. And fourth... We have a responsibility to our teammates to put out maximum effort and support them for the entire game. Our first half today was great, but in the second half we only had a handful of guys playing even close to potential. We have some outstanding talent on this team. We need to come to play for 80 minutes every week.

Game 3 - Celtic 0 - OPSC Knights 4

Danny's Take: Some wonderful football played, some really promising individual performances.  The overall attitude of the team was excellent. the result was unfortunate but all in all a huge improvement!

Game 2 - Celtic 0 - All American Arsenal 7

Bob's Comments: This was a tough game all round. Not a great team effort against an above average team (with two very good players). Two red cards (one highly questionable) did not help. We must always play under control. It is tough fighting from behind with only nine players. (Check Cautions & Suspensions)

Sometimes we learn more from a game like this than we do when we win. We certainly have many aspects of our game to work on so we improve... but...on a positive note.. we had several fine individual performances.

David & Richie were solid in defense, Noah was very consistent, Jonathan (in his first game back from mono) played smart until conditioning ran out, Austin & Raymond fought hard all day to create opportunities, and Ryan showed us how to play with passion, even when the game was out of reach.

and.... even though the Ref certainly did not have a good day... we still kept our composure and played hard to the end... something we can all be proud of. We obviously have the players to become a good team if we work hard together.

Game 1 - Celtic 1 - KSA Orange 1

Goal: Jamie Goldenberg (1) GK - Logan Murray

Danny's Comments:I was impressed with everybody really. The team showed great spirit against good team.  Austin and Jamie are two great additions to our squad and Logan continues to do well in goal.  Well done boys!
