Derek Hamer

Coach Derek Hamer worked with us in 2005 and 2007.

When Derek first worked with our team he was the Assistant Coach for the Women's Team at MidAmerica Nazarene College in Olathe.

Derek had been with the Pioneers for 4 years. Prior to joining the Pioneers Derek played 2 years as Goalkeeper at Trevecca and Thomas University.

He has coached several club teams in Brentwood, TN and the KC Freedom U18 girls in Kansas City. He has also coached High School girls at Olathe Christian School and Assistant girl's coach at Shawnee Mission Northwest high school.  He is also a Kansas ODP goalkeeper coach.

Coach Hamer graduated with a degree in Sports Management and minor in Health Education from Trevecca Nazarene University.  He brings great experience and a wealth of knowledge about the game. He is positive and makes his players better after every training session.

Coach Hamer holds National Youth Diploma, National Goalkeeper Diploma, National Diploma from the NSCAA.

Fortunately for Derek he was offered a full-time coaching job at Feather River Community College in California soon after our 2006 season started and had to head out west. He did a great job out there and the Feather River CC teams were very successful but he missed the Kansas City lifestyle and decided to return.

We are very pleased to have had Derek working with our boys to help them prepare to play on top level high school and college teams in the future. He makes our practice sessions both demanding and fun.
