Update April 11

?? Weekend Practice ??

We need to stay in shape when we have a weekend with no games scheduled.

A few weeks back I reserved the BV West turf field Saturday 1:00pm-3:00pm so we could scrimmage this weekend and work on set plays.

Unfortunately the forecast is for cold miserable weather with rain and snow.

If there is a break in the weather I will send a text so those who are not working or reffing can get together 1:00pm-3:00pm.

If you do not get a text .... assume we will not practice until Tuesday at our regular times.

The forecast looks better Sunday so if guys want a kick-around let me know and I'll get a text out to all players.

Nutmeg Tournament Update

We did not have enough players to enter a team in the Nutmeg Tournament on April 26/27th.

Governors Cup Tournament

Liverpool has been entered in The Governors Cup in Topeka - May 10-11.

This is one of the very top tournaments in Kansas with teams from Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, Arkansas and Oklahoma. It will be a great test for us.

We are allowed a maximum of 3 guest players in this tournament so all Liverpool players should confirm now to hold your spot on the tournament roster.

Celtic players - Let me know if you are available to guest play in this tournament.

Patriots Cup Tournament

Celtic will be entered in the Patriots Cup to be played in Lee's Summit - May 23-25.

Max. 5 guest players. Please confirm that you are available to play.

Gold Loses Indoor Playoff Game

Gold Team lost our Indoor Championship Game to KCFC Strikers on penalty kicks after a 4-4 draw.

After leading most of the night a couple of missed assignments in the final minutes set Strikers up to score twice to tie the game.

A tough way to end a very good season but a valuable lesson for all players. In big games, especially when a championship is on the line, we must all play sound fundamental soccer and keep focused on the basics.

Tonight we outplayed Strikers most of the game... but fell short when it counted.

Aside from the disappointment of losing... the Indoor Season was a lot of fun, and a great way to get some touches on the ball and help stay in shape.

Tickets for Wednesday Wizards Game

We do not have games scheduled the weekend of April 12-13 so next week we will practice Tuesday at our regular times..... and take a break Wednesday to attend the Wizards game against New England Revolution.

This will be a lot of fun... and can be a great learning experience for the boys.

Let me know if any boys need a ride.

John Muccino has a great deal on tickets through Cerner.... $10 per seat (which gives you a ticket, $5 in Wizards Bucks you can use at the concessions.... and (for the adults... sorry players) a free pass to the beer garden and refreshments).

Nutmeg Tournament

We plan on playing the Nutmeg Tournament April 26-27.

It is a local tournament with all games to be played at The Polo Fields and adjacent Kenneth Fields.

The number of teams we enter will be determined by how many players are available.

We need to register soon so.... Please email now if you want to play.

Trainers Fees

Kim is still waiting on a few folks to pay Trainers Fees for Spring Season and for the Border Battle Tournament.

Please pay the $125.00 trainers asap. Make checks payable to "BV Predators Soccer".

If you are unsure if you have paid please email Kim Cook to check status.

Liverpool plays KCFC United at 8:00am on HSP Field # 8

Celtic plays KRS Cheetas at 11:30am on Field # 5

Uniforms

Still a few guys last week who were not wearing Squadra II shorts. Uniforms page

Players may be held out of a game by the ref if they are not wearing team uniform. Some refs are sticklers for detail. We had a player ejected in past years for wearing different version shorts of the same brand.....

We have a few extra pair of new shorts that you can have at cost if anyone needs them.

Congratulations Tyler & Derek

Congratulations to Tyler Zaborny and Derek Wilson on their selection to this years Kansas 92 ODP team.

This is Tyler's first year on the State team. A great accomplishment on his first tryout.

Derek made the team in 2006 and was an Alternate in 2007.

The guys will now go to Region II Camp in Rockford, Illinois to compete in a regional tournament July 18-20 against teams from thirteen other state associations.

Following the tournament a Regional Pool will be selected for tryouts to join the US National Team.

Nick McDonald, who played on our summer team last year also made the team.
